Recommended use or purpose:

Triphala is traditionally used in Ayurvedic Medicine as a laxative for the relief of occasional constipation, promoting bowel movement by direct action of the large intestine. Used in Herbal Medicine to increase bile excretion by the liver. Used in Herbal Medicine to help relieve digestive disturbance.

Risk Information:

Cautions and Warnings Do not use if you are pregnant or breastfeeding. Do not use if you have fever, vomiting, diarrhea, abnormal constrictions, liver disorder, diabetes. Do not use if you are taking blood thinners or any medication. Do not use prior or after recent surgery. Consult a health care practitioner prior to use if you have gallstones. Do not use if you are allergic to plants of Asteraceae/Compositae/Daisy family. Do not use if you have a bile duct obstruction. Consult a health care practitioner prior to use if you have stomach ulcers or excess stomach acid. Do not use if you have gall bladder disorder, and/or bowel obstruction. Do not use if you are taking thiazide diuretics, cardiac glycosides, corticosteroids, stimulant laxatives or other medications which may aggravate electrolyte imbalance. Do not use if you have hypokalemia, heart disease, high or low blood pressure, kidney or liver disorder, diabetes or edema. Do not use if you are experiencing a sudden change in bowel habits that has persisted for more than 2 weeks, undiagnosed rectal bleeding, or failure to defecate following the use of another laxative product. Consult a health care practitioner prior to use if you have symptoms such as abdominal pain, nausea, vomiting or fever (as these could be signs of abnormal constrictions of the gastrointestinal tract, diseases of the oesophagus and/or the superior opening of the stomach (cardia), potential or existing intestinal blockage, paralysis of the intestine, mega colon, faecal impaction, inflamed bowel or appendicitis). Consult a health care practitioner prior to use if you are taking medications which inhibit peristaltic movement (e.g. opioids, loperamide). Consult a healthcare practitioner immediately if you experience chest pain, vomiting, or difficulty in swallowing or breathing after taking this product. Stop use and seek medical attention immediately if you experience dizziness, confusion, muscle weakness or pain, abnormal heart beat and/or difficulty breathing. Consult a health care practitioner prior to use if you have an iron deficiency. If you have a liver disorder, consult a health care practitioner prior to use. Stop use if you develop symptoms of liver trouble such as yellowing of the skin/eyes (jaundice), stomach pain, dark urine, sweating, nausea, unusual tiredness and/or loss of appetite and consult a health care practitioner.Contra-Indications Consult a health care practitioner if symptoms persist or worsen. Consult your health care professional before using this product if you have liver and gastrointestinal disease and diabetes or serious health problems. Reduce dose and discontinue use if you experience abdominal pain, nausea, vomiting, cramps, spasms and/or diarrhea.Known Adverse Reactions Hypersensitivity/allergy is known to occur, in which case, discontinue use. Rare, unpredictable cases of liver injury associated with green tea extract-containing products have been reported (in Canada and internationally).
